How Mymee Helped Cora Find Relief From Fibromyalgia Symptoms

The road to diagnosis and management of fibromyalgia is different for everyone. Each person has unique triggers and symptoms. Learn how Mymee helped Cora beat her fibromyalgia symptoms and get her life back in this success story.

Meet Cora, living with fibromyalgia.

By the time Cora signed up for Mymee, she had been struggling with a multitude of symptoms since childhood. Cora is a stay-at-home mom and a source of support for her husband, who was recovering from cancer at the time of writing. Cora was also helping her eldest child, who is on the autism spectrum and has ADHD, participate in online schooling.

Her plate was full, but still, she wanted to be able to do more for her family.

Cora’s goal with mymee was simple: to “improve anything,” especially her fibromyalgia symptoms. Cora had a long history of chronic pain conditions and experienced rapid spikes in heart rate because of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). Although she had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2015, she first experienced symptoms as early as elementary school.

Cora was also diagnosed with pseudogout, a painful type of arthritis with calcium crystals deposited in the joints, and osteoarthritis. She struggled with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including alternating diarrhea and constipation, gassiness, upset stomach, bloating, and heartburn.

Other conditions included a persistent, painful ovarian cyst and gallbladder attacks during pregnancy, resulting in gallbladder removal surgery. Cora noted mild neuropathy, muscle cramps, anxiety, brain fog, and itchy skin that caused sores to form under her skin. Furthermore, she had anxiety or dizziness.

According to Cora, she wanted to relieve stress from her husband as he recovered from cancer by being able to help more around the house. Plus, she wanted more energy for her kids. With her list of symptoms growing in length, it was understandable that any progress toward wellness would have been welcomed.

Mymee helped Cora find relief from fibromyalgia symptoms.

At the start of her time working with her Mymee health coach, Cora was taking multiple medications at the highest dose, including Gabapentin for pain and Topamax for migraines.

Over time, Cora worked with her Mymee health coach to identify 12 specific triggers within her day-to-day life that were worsening her fibromyalgia symptoms and other conditions. Her triggers included particular foods, medications, and stress.

After two months, Cora felt well enough to go to the pool and swim with her kids, something she hadn’t ever been able to do before. By her sixteenth session with her health coach, Cora’s bouts of fatigue were far less severe. Plus, she successfully reduced her medications, coming off of Topamax completely.

Cora’s lifestyle changes enabled her to lose 19 pounds and reach her goal of maintaining a weight of under 200 pounds. Cora followed the advice of her health coach over the next fourteen months and, in that time, tapered off her remaining medications.

Cora says that she has now achieved a quality of life that she hadn’t thought possible before Mymee.
